Network Awesome non è una semplice TV online, è una miniera per appassionati.

Prendendo alcune frasi dalla sezione about del sito ci si fa un'idea di come sia nato questo progetto e di quanta cura l'ideatore (il produttore di musica elettronica Jason Forrest) abbia messo nella realizzazione, insieme ad una buona dose di ironia.

"La TV non è più quella di un tempo: La TV generalista è cambiata in peggio e non dà segni di voler migliorare - noi offriamo qualcosa di diverso. Scandagliamo le vaste risorse di YouTube per portarvi i suoi tesori, impacchettati in un formato facile da guardare. Diversamente della TV normale, questa non vi squaglierà il cervello. Al contrario, vi porterà a riconsiderare a che cosa la TV potrebbe veramente offrire."

Il sito funziona sia con gli show proposti giornalmente, sia come amplissimo e ben selezionato archivio di vere e proprie chicche della musica, del cinema e della televisione. Si va dal "Cane andaluso" di Buñuel ai documentari su Morrisey, dalla Famiglia Addams agli screen test di Warhol. Tutti i video sono rigorosamente scelti dai curatori del sito, come tengono a sottolineare loro stessi: "Tutti i nostri video sono curati da una persona, non da un algoritmo (per quanto ci riguarda gli algoritmi fanno schifo - non sanno riconoscere cos'è divertente, interessante, sottovalutati o semplicemente 'cool')"

Tutti i video sono divisi in categorie, ma nell'archivio generale sono elencati in ordine alfabetico. Interessanti, e soprattutto molto divertenti, gli "eventi speciali", ossia raccolte monotematiche create ad hoc, come la Women of Punk o la Berlin weekend.

We mine the vast resources of YouTube to bring you treasures vast and plentiful, packaged and gift-wrapped in an easy-to-watch format.  Unlike regular TV, this will not melt your brain. Instead, it causes you to re-think what TV can and should offer you." The website works both with the daily updated shows both as a fine archive for gems from music, cinema and television history. From the Chien andalou by Bunuel, to special documentaries about Morrisey, from Addams Family to Andy Warhol's screen tests. All the videos are selected by the people hosting the web site, as they precisely say: "All of our videos are curated by a person, not an algorithm (in our opinion algorithm’s suck - they don't know what’s funny, interesting, over-looked or just plain cool)." The videos are either divided into categories and listed alphabetically in the main archive. Very interesting, and funny, are the "special events", themed compliations about a single topic, such as the Women of punk or the Berlin weekend.
