LE ROVINE DI MILANO

Presentato ieri alla Feltrinelli di Piazza Piemonte a Milano l'ultimo libro di Giovanni Agosti, professore di Storia dell'arte moderna all'Università Statale di Milano: un vasto ed eterogeneo gruppo di ascoltatori ha affollato lo spazio incontri della libreria acquistando poi il libro piccolo (come lo definisce l'autore), intitolato "Le rovine di Milano" 

Agosti si propone di spiegare le origini del degrado morale, politico e stilistico che affligge la società italiana di oggi. Senza alcun timore o remora l'autore sciorina un vero e proprio indice di nomi (rintracciabile praticamente a pag. 87), sviscera situazioni e arriva ai punti nodali che, nella sua idea, hanno condizionato la caduta della Milano delle eccellenze culturali: la Milano di Gadda, Strehler e Testori, come recita il risvolto di copertina. Guidati da uno stile leggero, efficace e onesto scopriamo come sono andate veramente le cose e come stanno andando nel mondo della cultura contemporanea. Il libro, uscito in ottobre, è incentrato su Milano, ma è ovviamente paradigmatico per il fenomeno di degrado nazionale al quale gli italiani sono costretti ad assistere. Mantendo come filo conduttore l'avvicendamento delle giunte comunali e dei vari assessori, Agosti volutamente fazioso constata e recensisce la condizione delle varie istituzioni milanesi dedicate all'arte figurativa: la pinacoteca di Brera, Palazzo Reale, il Museo del Novecento.
Oltre che davanti ai contenuti intrinseci del libro, si resta affascinati e stupefatti di fronte alla passione civile che questo intellettuale mette nel sostenere le proprie validissime idee: in un epoca in cui il servilismo, gli ossequi e l'autocensura ci hanno ormai reso mezzi ciechi e mezzi sordi di fronte ai problemi, l'onestà intellettuale di Agosti ci rinfranca e ci consola, fornendoci dati e ponendo quesiti per aiutarci, citando sempre l'autore, a liberare la testa.

 


It was held yesterday at Feltrinelli in Piazza Piemonte, Milan, the presentation of the last book by Giovanni Agosti, professor of Art History at Università Statale of Milan: a large and mixed audience crowded the place and afterwards purchased  the small book (as defined by the author), entitled "Le rovine di Milano" (The ruins of Milan) . Agosti with his work aims to explain the origins of the not only moral but political and stylistic decay that is afflicting Italian society today. Without any fear or hesitation the author lists a index of names (you can check it at page 87), eviscerates situations and reach the issues that,  in his opinion, have influenced the fall of Milan's cultural excellence: the Milan of Gadda, Strehler and Testori, as stated in the flap. Led by a light, honest and style, we discover how things really went and how they are going in the world of contemporary culture. The book, released in October,  focuses on Milan, but it is obviously paradigmatic for the national phenomenon of degradation to which the Italians are forced to watch. Maintaining as the main theme the rotation of the various city councils and councilors, Agosti deliberately biased notes and reviews the status of various institutions in Milan dedicated to figurative art: the Brera Gallery, the Palazzo Reale, the Museo del Novecento. In addition to the intrinsic contents of the book, one is fascinated and astonished by the civic passion this intellectual put into defending and supporting his opinions: in a time when the servility, treats and self-censorship let us half blind and deaf before the italian social problems, the intellectual honesty of Agosti refreshes and comforts us, providing us with questions and asking for us to, always mentioning the author, free our head.
